IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE affecting Core Path 3 between Finnock Bog Cottage and Wemyss Bay Caravan Park.  DO NOT USE.

The Council has recently been notified that a bridge on the route has become unsafe. Following a site inspection by Building Standards officers, it has been determined that the bridge presents a potential danger to users. As a result, the bridge and the affected section of the core path are being closed with immediate effect until further notice.

It is important to note that whilst this route forms part of the core path network, it is located on an unadopted road and is not maintained by the Council. Officers are currently working to establish ownership of the structure and will engage with the relevant landowner(s) to ensure that appropriate remedial action is taken.

At present, no timescale can be given for reopening the route.

The Council is undertaking efforts to notify nearby residents and path users, and public information is also being distributed through the Council’s website and social media channels. Alternative core path routes remain available.

We will share further updates as information becomes available.
